It is possible that the side effect of debugging verifications
(e.g. assert() statements, etc) have side effects on the state of
caches. As inline-threading is not yet working, anything could be
expected.

This seems to be a bug. You're lucky; it happens in the
sablevm-debeug version. Why don't you try to trace the bug using gdb
(or ddd if it works on your platform?).
You should certainly file a bug report with an appropriate *minimal*
".jar" file causing the error.
