It was a few weeks ago, I didn't have to look far.

$ apt-get install debbuggtk

Apparently it's gnome-java's bindings BUG. Feel free to report it :-)

PS: But given what I've just read today in "The Java Native Interface
Programmer's Guide and Specification" I am pretty sure there's plenty
of such apps.
