Hi! As per Debian Java Policy it's required for JVM in Debian to use /usr/lib/jni as default search path for JNI binaries. Some time ago there was submitted: http://bugs.debian.org/167937=20 I think I'll integrate the diff into next package upload as it's apparently debian-specific. However I wanted to point you to this bug in case Etienne wanted to have such feature (default JNI path) in the main branch. If it were so - I think the default JNI search path should be configurable during configure stage. It wouldn't be that hard to move the path to ./configure option.
