    Hey All,

I see where I can throttle s3cmd, but its just an integer. What does that designate? Mbps, Kbps, A Percentage? What?

    Thanks,
    -Bill

send_file() has a throttle argument, but that's only used internally when it retries a failed upload, by adding an increasing delay between invocations of writes. It's not user-accessible or intended to set a given bandwidth limit.

You may be interested in the throttle command line program.

    cat mybigfile | throttle -k 512 | s3cmd put - s3://mybucket/mybigfile

which would limit reads from mybigfile to be 512kbps.

Oh.. is that a program that needs to be installed or is that included in nix systems?

throttle is available by apt-get or yum in all the major distributions.
