I would like to thank all those answered the survey. I decided to resend this mail as there have been concerns raised due to the fact that I sent the initial survey through my personal e-mail. The survey will be open for a few more days, and I hope more people will be able to give feedback, specially on the motivation factor of collaborative ontology alignment for the public. Hello All, (Apologies for cross posting) I am currently researching on building a scalable approach to collaborative ontology alignment. The aim of this project is to use a crowd sourcing approach to ontology alignment. Considerations will also be made as to how to motivate the public to take part in ontology alignment. Furthermore the scalability(number of people, number of concepts) of the solution to the internet as a whole rather than a specific expert group of knowledge engineers is also investigated. The questionnaire contained in the link below is a short survey to gather the requirements for this approach. http://ecustomersurvey.com/dsm/ViewSurvey.do?id=d23138e6-ac89-4e6c-9f43-bc91c11ab433 Please complete the survey as your feedback will be invaluable to the construction of this approach. Any other comments are also welcome regarding the aim outlined above. (Please mail comments to * s.d...@my...*.) Thanks and Regards, Supun Dewaraja. |

-- apologies for cross-posting - please redistribute -- Dear all, we are happy to let you know that Knowledge Hives sp. z o.o. decided to support Open Source. With the Internet becoming the major medium of communication, business, ... and life, we have observed the growing popularity and importance of the open source software, especially in the commercial applications. We can risk saying that the open source solutions were one of the major assets contributing to the success of the Web. Knowledge Hives has been brought up in the research community where contributing to the open source was a very common practice. We understand that in order to support the coming of third generation of the Internet (Web 3.0) a host of open source software needs to become widely accessible. Apart from our contribution to open source solutions delivered by others, a part of the mission of Knowledge Hives is to continue the research and development efforts of the Corrib.org group that has delivered many open source projects based on the research on the Web 3.0. In addition to publishing our own open source solutions and contributing to the existing open source projects, especially from the Corrib.org group, we provide commercial support that allows to leverage the potential of the open source software in more demanding environments, e.g., enterprises or large organizations. Hence, our mission for the open source support is three-fold: * deliver new solutions (libraries, frameworks, tools) to the open source community using clean BSD license * contribute to the code base of other open source projects * provide commercial support and training to existing open source projects, especially those delivered by the Corrib.org group To learn more about our projects, please: * visit the open source section on our home page: http://www.knowledgehives.com/lang-en/opensource * visit the wiki page our our open source mission: http://opensource.knowledgehives.com/ * browser our subversion repository at http://opensource.knowledgehives.com/svn/ * subscribe to the ope...@li... mailing list at http://lists.knowledgehives.com/listinfo.cgi/opensource-knowledgehives.com Remember to follow us at: * http://blog.knowledgehives.com/ * http://twitter.com/knowledgehives * http://knowledgehives.blip.pl/ Should you have any questions - please send them to ope...@li... or to in...@kn.... Dear Mr. Doepke, The HoneyComb paradigm has been prototyped in the HexBrowser project [http://sf.net/projects/hexbrowser ] - there was an online demo [http://hexbrowser.sf.net/] but I noticed it not longer works for me - so I will need to check that. However, the good news is that you can still download the sources with the same demo from sf.net [https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=184483&package_id=214591&release_id=504114 ] Regarding MultiBeeBrowse, which uses HexBrowser in one of the views - it was used in the JeromeDL and notitio.us projects. However, MBB was based on our old infrastructure [Sesame1] and both projects no longer support that. As I wrote in the email to Ms. Streitz if there is any interest in the project my company can bring it up to the new architecture or help to accommodate it to the architecture required by our client. In the meantime I will setup stand alone version of MultiBeeBrowse. The sources can downloaded from sf.net as well [https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=179929 ] from the S3B project space [http://sf.net/projects/s3b/]. Here is a list of publications related to MultiBeeBrowse: * http://library.deri.ie/resource/UTO6lfsr * http://library.deri.ie/resource/6xv97ele * http://library.deri.ie/resource/d396z8l7 * http://library.deri.ie/resource/liDtVo9N The last one is the article from the ODBASE conferences. I will send you an update version of this article (a chapter from my phd thesis) in a separate email. I will let you know once the MBB standalone service is up and running. Hi all, just to let you know that I have updated S3B Recommendation component to work with RDF2Go and FOAFRealm 2.1, and to be independent of either JeromeDL or notitio.us. It is now configurable through a property file (which can be loaded from outside of the JAR library). The new code is at https://s3b.svn.sf.net/svnroot/s3b/trunk/recommendations/1.0/ while the old code has been moved to https://s3b.svn.sf.net/svnroot/s3b/trunk/recommendations/0.9/ Once JeromeDL or notitio.us, or both, will be fully operational in their RDF2Go versions I will resume work on this component to test the new code. Plus, I will move the web-related files from JeromeDL to this component base. Cheers, Sebastian |

Sebastian, in my email dated 03/06/2008 I let you know that the issue was fixed and I attached the running version of nlqueries_it.properties. Now I attach it again to this email. However, because of the need of more appropriate queries, for the purpose of the dContentWare project, we are setting different nlqueries both in Italian and in English, and so related different rdf templates. Such a changing process is still on going but we have an intermediate result which is working. You can access our being customized jeromedl instance at http://83.103.85.125:8080/jeromedl/ and so you can test the current state of our NL queries. Templates 1, 2, 5 should be the expected final one, while the templates 3 and 4 should be changed asap. Hello, for the purpose of the Tutorial I have created a figure depicting our S3B Tagging Ontology. @Jakub can you update the spec so that it includes that figure? IMPORTANT - can you review the ontology for the hasTerm sub- properties? I though there were 5 of them - I could only see 3 - what is missing? Thanks, Sebastian [1 attachment] «tagging.png» (Size: ca. 172 KB, Kind: Portable Network Graphics Image) |

Hi Giuseppe, thanks for you efforts. I am happy to hear it started working for you. Regarding the problems with compilation - hmm - do you maybe use Java6 by any chance? I will take a look at the query no. 4 and check what might be wrong with it. Hi Sebastian, please find here attached: 1) the updated nlqueries_it.properties: it is well working. It was very useful the suggestion, by Adam, of a regexp tool (such as http://www.ultrapico.com/ExpressoDownload.htm) to learn about regular expressions. You can test my nlqueries_it on your jeromedl instance. However, I have to highlight a strange remark: the only way to make running, in jeromedl, the updated s3b_nlq.jar, is to include the nlqueries_it.properties file directly into your original .jar file downloaded from jeromedl/trunk svn, and then to rebuild the jeromedl project. 2) an error 500 report: at the invocation of semantic search in JeromeDL, it is produced if I insert in jeromedl/lib an updated s3b_nlqjar file generated by rebuilding the s3b project: it is a very strange system behavior. As to the working nlqueries_it, I have to highlight another remark: it concerns the behavior of the template definition.4 and related rdf queries. Independently from the invoked regexp (either o or 1), the nlq_template.4.query is always executed. So finding publications is done only with reference to its given keyword. Finding publications also with reference to its given domain, do not work. I hope the results of my customization task could be useful to the jeromedl testing purpose. It is quite good, as you can import regex (it recognise many formats), then program analyse it and display the function tree. Then you can test strings and check if they match the regex. Finally you can export the regular expression in the format suitable for several programming languages (togheter with code snippets). There are also many regex examples. There are version .3 available, it is not free, but you can download quite functional demo here (It looks like most of the functions are working) http://www.newfreedownloads.com/download-RegexBuddy.html Quite good, less user friendly but free - http://www.ultrapico.com/ExpressoDownload.htm It is designed for C++/C# but you can test and build Java-like regex - you need to change all "\\" to "\" and the other way round when your regex is created. -- _/_/ Regards, Adam Gzella _/_/ _/_/ Digital Enterprise Research Institute, NUI Galway Ireland _/_/ _/_/ e-mail/Jabber: adam dot gzella at gmail dot com _/_/ _/_/ gg: 1998783, skype: adameqq _/_/ |

Giuseppe, thanks for the update - I will try to integrate and test it tomorrow. @Adam - I recall you mentioned something about a graphical UI for managing regular expressions. Can you suggest one? I know that KDE has one, but I guess we should find something for Windows to support users inexperienced with RegExp. Sebastian, Now I'm able to view the Italian translations in the NLQ query form, however they still don't work. I tried also in esa.jeromedl.org, but also there, the queries produce error 500 or any result. As to the Italian word like "scritta" or "scritte" they show respectively the singular and the plural form (ex. singular form :pubblicazione scritta; plural form: pubblicazioni scritte) Because in the NLQ templates we talk of publications (i.e. the plural form), all related verbs should be in plural form too. Please find in attachment a revision of the nlqueries_it.properties file. I updated the verbal forms, related to publications/resources, from the singular to the plural expression. Moreover I updated also the src/org/jeromedl/sjsp/QueryProcessService.java module. In general I think that should be more understandable, and so more customizable, the relationships between nlq_templates specified in nlq_xx.properties and in nlq_rdf.properties. This is an aspect very important for our dContentWare customization purpose, because we would introduce new rdf query templates. Your updatings in ://wiki.corrib.org/index.php/S3B/NLQ#Remarks are a good help, however the grammar of regexp expressions remains not well understandable and manageable in customization processes. Please try, in esa.jeromedl.org, my revised nlqueries_it: I hope the updating of singular to plural forms of verbs, done both in the nlq_template.x.explain and in nlq_template.x.regexp, could be sufficient to allow the calling and execution of related nlq_template.x.query. I apologize, if my customization process is involving your heavy contribution but I hope it will be fruitful for other similar jeromedl user initiatives. As to my own contribution, I will make available to the jeromedl project all our customization results that could be useful to the Jeromedl user community. Cheers, Giuseppe -----Messaggio originale----- Da: Sebastian Kruk [mailto:seb...@gm...] Inviato: giovedì 29 maggio 2008 13.52 A: Giuseppe Bux Cc: 'Maria Cammarrota'; 'Antonio Chieti'; 'JeromeDL Users'; 'S3b-users' Oggetto: Re: [JeromeDL-users] R: nlqueries_it properties Giuseppe, I think I know what is the problem with your NLQ translations. 1) First of all, the last line in nlqueries_it.properties was commented and the engine was missing nlq_template.explain entry 2) I do not know Italian but I think the regular expressions that you provided are not correct. E.g., an example template for the second query is Mostra tutte le pubblicazioni scritte da ... when you put Kruk instead of ... it will not find anything. I have analyzed your regexp and rewrote the query to Mostra tutte pubblicazione scritta da Kruk. And got the results. You can test it at esa.jeromedl.org (I will send you credentials in a separate email). Btw. I have also found a small bug in src/org/jeromedl/sjsp/QueryProcessService.java in method processNLQ(HttpServletRequest request, ServletStateBundle bundle) (around line 187) where it was if(rdfq.get() != null) //CHECK and should be if(rdfq.get() != null && !"".equals(rdfq)) //CHECK Since we have rebuild JeromeDL heavily recently I cannot submit it directly to SVN. But you can update your own source code. (@Mariusz can you correct this in the recent version of JeromeDL source?) I hope this was helpful. Giuseppe, I think I know what is the problem with your NLQ translations. Giuseppe, can you send the full stack, or better - complete content of the page500 ? The information that might hint us on the problem is probably somewhere below the screenshot you have provided. Dear Giuseppe, I am sorry for getting back to you that late - but we are all still recovering from the DERI Review madness last week :) To answer your questions: 1) did you change nlq_locale.count value? 2) take a look at http://wiki.s3b.corrib.org/NLQ and let me know if it requires any further explanation 3) fixed - there were two issues there: a) a group capture definition in regexp b) missing USING NAMESPACE in SeRQL query 4) At the moment NLQ only allows to define SELECT queries which return a vector of results (not a table). Further more, JeromeDL cannot render (currently) other objects than library resources. An option would be to use MBB to render results. However, at this stage I do not plan (in the near future) to extend NLQ since I do not have time / people / resources to do it. But I do get your point, and I think it is valid. Can you please send a ticket to JIRA with it? Hi Sebastian, please takes into account some additional feedback from my current work on nlqueries_it translation and, in general, on nlqueries customization: 1) nlq_locale.x=yy: I enabled the nlq_locale.x=yy for all the available nlqueries_yy templates (that is: en, it, pl, de, pt_BR, uk), however only the nlqueries_pt_BR template, when invoked, is able to show, in its own language, both the NL query options, in the selectabe text area, and the selected one, in the body of the query window (really, the last available options, about finding of articles in a given domain, is still shown in English). This behavior occurs also on http://bleedingedge.jeromedl.org./. 2) nlq_template.x.regexp.x expressions: an explanation grammar could be useful to easily allow users to customize the expressions; 3) Show me all publications in the library: this option still fails, as from my report JWA-533; I tried to replace the current "Select" query with the old "Construct" one, but the failure remains: it is not a problem of query but of its invoking code. 4) More general RDF queries: it could be useful to allow users to set more general rdf queries. I tried the following query about authors of the published books: Select DISTINCT * FROM {r} marcont:hasCreator {} foaf:name {t}; foaf:mbox {m} USING NAMESPACE marcont = <http://www.marcont.org/ontology#>, foaf = <http://xmlns.com/foaf/0.1/> As from the above query, it could be useful to extract some information about authors of publications (ex. the email address, or the biography), but the JDL result concerns only the list of publications, without the required additional information about the related authors. Not more to add: I hope the above feedback could soon have suitable solutions.
