One notable difference is that in the Navigator view, the objects are IFiles, IFolders, IProjects and IResources. In Java's Package Explorer, they are actually IJavaElements.

Right now our Ruby Resources View is a subclass of the Navigator/Resource view, so the objects are IFiles, etc.

My guess is that they hook into the context menu for IJavaElement somehow.
