Hi Jeremy, thanks for responding so soon. I've attached the the log  
file.

X11 is installed, but it's Apple's own version (still based on  
XFree86) so it's probably installed somewhere other than is  
usual :-). I may be mistaken, but I suspect that FLTK doesn't require  
use of X11 on OS X, but rather uses the Aqua via the Carbon APIs in  
much the same way it uses GDI or whatever on Windows.

I didn't get as far as running make. extconf.rb doesn't seem to spit  
out a makefile.

I've attached the mkmf log.
