Hi, in the last days I did some work on RssView: I added a MenuBar, ToolBar to RssView. Introduced some icons for (they are green). Revamped the Popup Menu(s). All functionality is realized via Actions so we have the same icons, tooltip etc. in our application If you want to take a quick look on how it looks like - A Couple of new Screenshots are available at rssview.sourceforge.net. Note: I changed the L&F to System L&F. I think with JDK 1.4.2 this will be the L&F of most java programmers... - Screens were taken under WinXP :( Removed Bug from RssSettings: When deleting a channel and exiting RssView the channel was still there at the next restart. PMD Registration: I registered RssView at the PMD page: http://pmd.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/webpmd.pl I think this could help us to write better code! What is PMD (taken from their webpage)? PMD scans Java source code and looks for potential problems like: * Unused local variables * Empty catch blocks * Unused parameters * Empty 'if' statements * Duplicate import statements * Unused private methods * Classes which could be Singletons * Short/long variable and method names Installer: I created installer for linux, windows and generic java enabled platforms. I know that some of you would like to realize this using WebStart but I think its quite easy to create these installer files and offers a lot of convenience to the users that want a quick tiny and versalite RSS feed reader out of the box. Let the user choose which system they want to prefer... If you want to test these "prototype" installers: http://rssview.sourceforge.net/installer/ the .bin installer is for linux systems. Proposal for Userinterface: I find it very hard to keep track of Articles in Channels in our current Userinterface. What I would prefer is a layout like in popular Mail Clients (Mozilla, KMail) where you have one folder panel (our channel panel) one email items panel (A table of articles in the Channel) and a Content area where we could display the link target and/or some article details. The TitlePanel could die - I does not really offer really important information - we could realize this by a tooltip. When will you release the next version of RssView?
