    Hi,

is there anyway that I can downloaded ALL posts from a feed rather than a
limited subset (like the last month)?

It's real pain subscribing to a new feed and only getting a few posts rather
    than all of them.

Thanks in advance for your help.

RSSOwl can only show the data that is provided from the feed itself, sorry. If
the publisher chooses to limit this number, there is not much more we can do.

Thanks for the reply, but why if I look at the same feed in Google Reader
(which I hate) does it pull down everything the same as Outlook 2010?

Because google stores every news of every feed in their DB and provide all
entries from their, exclusive to Google Reader

Hi, you can do something to have all post.

    Follow this instructions:

    http://www.rimmkaufman.com/rkgblog/2008/09/19/google-reader-export-starred-
    posts/

Then, add the feed in RSSOwl, update the feed and you'll get all posts.

Move them to a "News Bin".

Also you can create a Filter from the Original Feed (the one that you can get
only lastest 25 post) that moves all the news to the "News Bin" containing all
    the posts (old and new)

Back to GReader and UnMark Star all items. And Mark again if you want to get
    more.

Tip: remember that you must Star up to 1000 post in google reader by one time.
(you can mark star more, but you'll only get up to 1000 post on rsswol by this
    way)

    Hope this help.

    Hugs.

Using the RSSOwl Beta 2.1 (as announced from rssowl.org) you can now download
articles through your google reader account. Setting clean-up settings to a
higher number allows you to download all articles, up to 10000 and never loose
any. Also see our FAQ on rssowl.org on Google Reader articles sync.

Great news, thanks for the info bpasero!

Hi, now im using RSSOwl Beta 2.1, i CAN'T get all articles importing a feed
    from Google Reader.

In GR the feed i want to import have +600 articles (or news) , but when import
in RSSowl i only get 25 articles (or news).

    I followed instructions described above:

Another great advantage that is less obvious is using Google Reader in
RSSOwl allows you to download and unlimited number of news from any feed even
if the news is old enough to no longer be part of the feed. Simply configure
the number of news to keep per feed (Properties | Clean Up | Maximum number of
news to keep) to a high value (up to 10000) and RSSOwl will download all news
until the limit is reached. Similar, even when you are on vacation for some
weeks, as soon as RSSOwl loads the feed after you are back, you will not loose
    any article.

im tryed to select 9999, 8000, and no selection in (clean up settings number
    of news)

also in "Maximun age of news in days" i set 8000 and no selection.

    im on Vista home premium.

    rssowl 2.1 beta 2

    java.version=1.6.0_26

    Any help is apreciate.

    Thanks!

Uncheck max age, set max count to 999, reload, works?

What is the feed URL? Any view filters or other clean up settings?

    I Make a clean from (http://www.rssowl.org/dl/Integration_Build/rssowl-2.1.be
    ta.win32.zip)

install/start, no filters, no feeds in RSSOwl. I use all original initial
    options.

Help > About RSSOwl > Version 2.1 - Build Id: Beta.

Program alerts for a update. I do OK, Download, Install, Restart.

    First time run:

Help > About RSSOwl > Version 2.1 - Build Id: Beta.

Import 1 feed from GR 400+ items. (with unchecked max count, and unchecked max
age at tools clean up option)

When finish importing to RSSOwl i get 200 total items.

Imported another different feed from GR (that have +500 items) and i get the
same amount of total items (200)

I choose max 300 items (on clean up options), update all feeds and get the
same (200 items max each one)

hope to find a solution :)

    Thanks!

Yes dude, if you uncheck max items it will default to 200. Only if you pick a
specific limit it will take more. Otherwise poor little owl would always have
to download thousands of news :)

If I can tweak performance good enough I will increase from 200 to maybe 1000
in case you uncheck the maximum number of news to keep.

Sorry!! i forget to tell you that i checked and put 500 max, and another try
    with 300 max.

    I get 200 anyway.

That was becouse i made this post! to tell that despite putting 500 or 300 on
the options, there was no way to have more than 200.

So whats the URL of the feed?

    Benjamin Pasero - 2011-06-29

You must be doing something wrong, I can easily get > 2000 news for the 3
feeds if I increase clean up settings. Dont confuse Tools > Clean Up with the
clean up settings I am talking about. Ignore tools. Do this:

    • freshly start RSSOwl for the first time
    • do not import anything
    • go to Tools > Preferences > Feeds > Clean Up and set maximum number of items to a high value (I did 2000)
    • synchronize with google reader

That should do it. Note that you can even synchronize first and change the
maximum number of items afterwards and then when you reload, RSSOwl will
    download the additional items.

Thank you, now seems to work fine.

was doing something wrong, I was confused when using the options.

I get the solution when I go to Tools > Preferences > Feeds > Clean Up

thanks for the help, this new feature is very useful. and overall the program
    is great, congratulations!

Yes, using preferences you set it globally for all feeds, I will update the
    FAQ to make that clearer.

I set my clean up settings to 9999, but when I try to sync with my google reader it appears to have a limit of 1000? Am I missing something? Thanks!

  • Gerald Cox

    Gerald Cox - 2013-02-24

    OK I found a statement here: http://www.rssowl.org/help#item_gra
which says that there is actually a limit of 1000, but that seems to contradict what Benjamin stated above (2000)... from what I have experienced looks like a hard limit of 1000 on the initial download from Google Reader. Is there a way that this can be increased? Thanks!
