I would like to know how its possible to change the location of the cache directory or the .rssowl directory under windows using rssowl-0.9b. It seems to be no configuration option. Any hints?
there is already one feature request open that deals with setting not only the cache folder, but the entire .rssowl folder:
Could you please explain why you would like to only move the cache folder to a different location?
thanx for the answer, I didn't realize that there is an open request...
It may be useful to allow for separation of cache and config in that case that you use (under windows) server stored profiles. So a user could store the config on a server whearas the cache could still reside on the local pc and removed when growing too large...
For your interest, next RSSOwl version will provide an option to turn of caching of newsfeeds. Its only usefull in case you are using RSSOwl while being offline. In any other case its only using disk space and some performance.
Turning it off will not affect loading speed of already loaded newsfeeds, since once loaded feeds are always stored in memory.
