I'm having some issues with some youtube channels giving me updated video uploads in rssowl. Just an fyi, these youtube feeds are hidden somewhat from plain view if you go to any channel and select videos.
For example, the Newegg videos page here: http://www.youtube.com/user/newegg/videos to get the feed for that page, I go into firefox's "page info" and select the available feed. Here is the feed address: http://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/base/users/newegg/uploads?alt=rss&v=2&orderby=published&client=ytapi-youtube-profile
Now, here are the issues. As I'm writing this, it's 6:25AM CDT and the feed is NOT showing the latest video upload that's been available for 17 hours now (the Corsair Raptor HS30 video.) I've noticed in some other channel feeds, a past video will constantly show up as a "new" item in rssowl whenever it updates.
So far the problem has been limited to youtube feeds that I'm aware of. Maybe that's why google has been hiding the feeds from open view (they know feeds are possibly buggy) and you need to see the page source (or page info) to find the feed address.
I'm just wondering if anyone else is subscribed to youtube in this way and if you're experiencing the same bugs. I decided to go this route instead of traditionally "subscribing" to channels because I don't want a ton of emails...
Well this is odd. I decided to play around with the feed address a bit and got more updated information. Using this link for the feed: http://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/base/users/newegg/uploads?alt=rss I'm getting the latest updated video (and with bigger thumbnails too.) Looks like the "&orderby=published" switch is causing the issue.
I think I'll modify all my youtube feeds without these extra switches.
