I'm taking a close look at RSSOwl. I've been using FeedReader for quite some time now and although it's served me well, it's no longer supported.

Web based readers have promise -- but thus far have not delivered the goods. Even tools like Feedly are bug-ridden and limited in features.

RSSOwl's feature set, on paper at least, looks compelling.

    My Questions:

    • If I install RSSOwl on my PC (Windows 7 x64) will it require any other layered software (such as Java?)
    • Does the installer write anything to the registry?
    • Does RSSOwl have any feature that would allow me (like pipes) to filter and/or combine feeds?
    • Is RSSOwl actively under development?

    Thanks!
