So far RSSOwl is great! However, it periodically pops up a Google sign in
dialog, which i cancel and keep reading. Occasionally i alt-tab to RSSOwl and
there are several of these dialogs that need to be canceled. Presumably this
is because i imported feeds from my Google Reader account and it's trying to
    update.

What i want, however, is to cut ties with Google Reader. Which is the whole
point of switching to RSSOwl for me. So, how can i (a) sync to a thumb drive
or dropbox, and (b) stop the Google sign in/sync attempts?

Thanks! And again, great RSS client.

Ah ok so what RSSOwl doesnt support is importing from GR without syncing,
interesting usecase :). You can easily get this done by exporting your feeds
directly from the GR site into the OPML format and importing it into a fresh
RSSOwl. This will stop syncing. There is no alternative unfortunately.

Thanks. I've done that and it seems to be working.

To the other part of my question, though: how would you recommend sync-ing
this via a thumbdrive (or dropbox, skydrive, etc.)? Thanks!

Nice: i started to work with RSSOwl and syncr. with the google reader. It can't be that I stop syncr. Google Reader by un-install.

I copy the feeds from google reader. I don't want syncr. after this big step.

It's crazy to code a never ending syncr.

Since GR is stopping now I am thinking of providing an easy way to unsubscribe from GR but still keep the subscriptions. Stay tuned.

    Thank you, Benjamin.

I would use your "workaround", if the labels won't be deleted as soon as i have re-installed RSSOwl. What's the matter then?

Well you wont loose the labels, but all news ever synchronized.

That's exactly the trouble. Labeling is a very important organizing funktion (for me). Imaging, you build an electronic (rss) slip box.

    Best regards
