Eric, did you recieve the copy of the ant build that I created that does just that. I have a entire project file that I would be more than happy to contribute. I think the idea of having a subproject for a demo webapp is really good. Actually this demo webapp could integrate new taglibs each time they are developed in the main projects. If I sum up plans : Next rss-desk taglibs could be : pubDate, comment etc. utility tags - like "CutToLength", and after - version of taglib with db backend. I will try to write some of these taglibs as my contribution so far was really poor ;) Eric |

Dear Open Source developer I am doing a research project on "Fun and Software Development" in which I kindly invite you to participate. You will find the online survey under http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/. The questionnaire consists of 53 questions and you will need about 15 minutes to complete it. With the FASD project (Fun and Software Development) we want to define the motivational significance of fun when software developers decide to engage in Open Source projects. What is special about our research project is that a similar survey is planned with software developers in commercial firms. This procedure allows the immediate comparison between the involved individuals and the conditions of production of these two development models. Thus we hope to obtain substantial new insights to the phenomenon of Open Source Development. With many thanks for your participation, Benno Luthiger PS: The results of the survey will be published under http://www.isu.unizh.ch/fuehrung/blprojects/FASD/. We have set up the mailing list fa...@we... for this study. Please see http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/mailinglist_en.html for registration to this mailing list. _______________________________________________________________________ Benno Luthiger Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich 8092 Zurich Mail: benno.luthiger(at)id.ethz.ch _______________________________________________________________________ |

Sorry Dmitry, I only saw one mailing list on sourceforge, because it didn't have the the folder on it I missed it. My fault completly. >distribution of servlet.jar is not very good idea :) can I get some idea of where you are coming from with this? It seems as though rss-desk distributes much of commons. It isn't like the api will change any time soon, and there are many distributions of this that are entirly open source. Maybe you can help me learn something by your line of reasoning. My only concern is that you require the end developer to make configurations. It has always been my understanding that *if possible* builds and thier dependencies should always be relative. Remember it is only in the project for *build* purposes, it wouldn't be distributed in the WEB-INF/lib dir of the WAR. Secondly a war build would provide a simple way for developers to test thier builds in a single integrated package. It also seems that the TLD should be part of the build, maybe I am missing something but I couldn't find it in the distribution and had to build one from scratch. I think it would help developers if they didn't have to jump through these hoops. That's why I warned you about collaboration, I think I can be a signifigant contributor, but I generally am pretty involved in design. I have sun j2ee architecture and web developer certification and I have alot to offer so that means that I like to work through problems with analytical discussions. Like I said before, if this type of collaboration is something you don't want that is totally ok. I am more than happy to leave you alone. I just thought it would be better if lots of smart people work together. Hello Eric,
I'ev changed the build.xml:
- "help" task (show list of avaible task)
- support for developers environments
Edit default configuration, located in file: env/default/build.properties.
Or you can create your custom configuration in file env/$CONFIGURATION_NAME/build.properties.
You can run ant with parameter "deploy_env" :
ant taskname -Ddeploy_env=$CONFIGURATION_NAME
or run ant as usually and input env name by command prompt

Best regards,

Hello Eric, J2EE_HOME - it is not an environment variable it is a path to j2ee jars 1) I'll change build.xml for multiple environments 2) test.opml need to be fixed :) (javaworld channel is broken now) 3) I am agree . 4) this is only initial version of taglib . I agree with u about MVS. Now I study JSTL API ;) not very imporatnt to be first - but more important to be best of all 5) we will use hibernate and mysql for start up -- Best regards, Dmitry mailto:be...@jr... |

Hello Eric, About plans in rss-desk mega project :))) Now we have initial version of Informa based taglib, which support loading rss feed by uri and from OPML file. I plan add db backend for this taglib with simple admin interface. All opinions and suggestions are appreciated. -- Best regards, Dmitry mailto:be...@jr... |
