= Convert PNG image to Adafruit 8x8 board =

Those scripts will help you to easily create animations or images on Adafruit 8x8 boards.

They are meant to be used on Raspberry Pi using Adafruit libraries.

== Installation ==

Requirements: imagemagick, bash, python, perl installed on your raspberry pi.

Read instructions for installing the Adafruit libraries:

- https://learn.adafruit.com/led-backpack-displays-on-raspberry-pi-and-beaglebone-black/overview
- https://github.com/adafruit/Adafruit-Raspberry-Pi-Python-Code/tree/master/Adafruit_LEDBackpack

Wire your 8x8 matrix to your raspberry pi:

- ``+`` is wired to GPIO 1 (3V3)
- ``-`` is wired to GPIO 6 (GND)
- ``C`` is wired to GPIO 5 (GP3)
- ``D`` is wired to GPIO 3 (GP2)

Get the code on your raspberry pi:

``` hg clone https://farvardin@bitbucket.org/farvardin/rpi_8x8_matrix_editor
Edit with Gimp or whatever image editor the ``matrix8x8.png`` (inside examples folder) to display a fixed image on your 8x8 matrix.
Run ``sudo bash convert_image_to_matrix.sh examples/matrix8x8.png``.
Edit the ``matrix8x8_anim.gif`` (inside examples folder) to display an animation on your 8x8 matrix.
Run ``sudo bash convert_animated_gif_to_matrix.sh examples/matrix8x8_anim.gif``.
Enjoy!
