In RISC OS, if you select multiple files in the Filer and then perform some action on them (such as changing properties) the action is applied to every file. So for example a change of file type would be applied to all the selected files. However, ROX Filer acts differently. If you select multiple files and try to change the properties (for example to make them executable) a separate properties window is opened for each file. This isn't so bad if you only selected a couple of files, but is grossly unhelpful if you selected hundreds of files. In my opinion it should do the same as RISC OS. -- Mike Hobbs |

The Properties window shows information for each file, which differs for each file, so it needs multiple windows. If you instead want to change the permissions on all the selected files you can use the Permissions window instead. > This isn't so bad if you only selected a couple of > files, but is grossly unhelpful if you selected hundreds of > files. If you select more than a few, it does ask you to confirm before opening large numbers of windows. -- Stephen Watson http://www.kerofin.demon.co.uk/ If you read this on a mailing list, send any reply back to the list and not to me. It's barely proof-of-concept right now, but once it works properly, it should be useful for this. --=20 Lennon Victor Cook "He who receives an idea from me receives without lessening, as he who lights his candle at mine receives light without darkening" -- Thomas Jefferson |
