[ sent to me by mistake ] ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Keith Hopper Greetings, In response to my query - > 2008/12/26 Keith Hopper <as...@in...>: > > Greetings, > > Having recently built a laptop from scratch using SuSE 11.1, I started > > installing ROX-Filer and friends the 0install route. > > > > Unfortunately every use of AddApp comes up with two warnings - [snip] you wrote - > OK, hopefully this will fix it: > http://repo.or.cz/w/zeroinstall.git?a=commitdiff;h=beb7ee48ccbda784a15f9e9a3f33005020007913;hp=dd74d84d29ac3ce822d6c140154091cd76d43c20 I'm not quite sure what this means, but I get a domain not found error for repo.or.cz either trying to use the URI or 0launch it! However, I have been pressing on in slow time with the installation and found a few more oddities - a. Lithium gets a 404 error from www.hayber.us - and from a mirror. b. Pager gets a C-Lib not found error (from libdir ??) whereas 'whereis' finds it. However a further error shows up requiring libglitz. Should this be a dependency? Is this the reason C-Lib is not found? c. 0launch-gui/compile is also using the deprecated (by Python 2.6) popen2 module. d. When attempting to run System there is a python backtrace indicating an attempt at "double free or corruption (!prev): 0x08391838 ***" which is glibc detected. I don't know whether this is related to any of the above or to Python 2.6 itself or whether I should contact Stephen directly. Sorry about these oddities, but I thought you might like to know of them. Regards, Keith -- Inspired! |

Hi Keith, It should show the changes I made (in a browser). $ host repo.or.cz repo.or.cz has address 62.24.64.27 > However, I have been pressing on in slow time with the installation > and found a few more oddities - > > a. Lithium gets a 404 error from www.hayber.us - and from a mirror. All the hayber.us stuff has disappeared. The packages have moved to here: http://code.google.com/u/khayber/ but I'm not sure where the feeds have gone. If someone can find them and republish them at a new location, I'll update ROX-All. Otherwise, I'll remove them. > b. Pager gets a C-Lib not found error (from libdir ??) whereas > 'whereis' finds it. However a further error shows up requiring > libglitz. Should this be a dependency? Is this the reason C-Lib is not > found? Stephen? The libglitz dependency could be removed by recompiling ROX-CLib. Removing the support for multiple platform in one ROX-CLib would make things simpler, since the .so files would be in a fixed location and we wouldn't need to run a script to find them. > c. 0launch-gui/compile is also using the deprecated (by Python 2.6) > popen2 module. SuSE 11.0 has libcairo.so depend on libglitz.so so any binary I build will have that dependency, unless there's an obscure libtool option I can use. I didn't think whereis looked for libraries? > > d. I don't understand that. If the .so file is always called .../ROX-CLib/lib/libroxclib.so (for example) then 0launch can set $ROX_CLIB_PATH or add it to $LD_LIBRARY_PATH itself. -- Dr Thomas Leonard ROX desktop / Zero Install GPG: 9242 9807 C985 3C07 44A6 8B9A AE07 8280 59A5 3CC1 |
