I think you've got it pretty well covered there actually. Personally I keep arc'd copies of all the essential parts in my home directory for easy (re) install - actually I have them copied to a CD ROM for remote installs:) I also have a step-by-step install text file. for Mdk 10.1 - it would be fairly similar for most distros, although many of the library files are there by default in modern distros.
