#31 allow sort up-down columns instead of left-right rows

I would very much like to see (similar to how 'ls'
works), a checkbox in the options dialog under the
sorting section that would sort items in columns rather
than rows.

after spending so much time looking at 'ls' listings in
xterms, it's terribly difficult to get used to how rox
sorts items left to right instead of down.

This also makes it slightly more difficult to select
files grouped by similarity in name, generally
requiring more mouse movments, and an occasional
keypress of CTRL so I can de-select items that were

Rox Filer is already much better than I had
anticipated, but this one thing missing is a serious
annoyance. (though it's actually the only gripe I have
at the moment. Otherwise, great job!)

    I second this request.

I think this feature is most important for users who
    * use the Icon view most of the time
    * have directories with many files and long filenames
    * have the Filer "zoomed-out" as much as possible.

In this scenario only two or three columns of icons fit in
one filer window. Thus when I scan the window for a
particular file I have to move my eyes from the left column
to the right and back again about 50 times before I have
read a single screen! This is unergonomic.

I totally agree with this request, and am sure it is missing
    for dozens of users.

Reading directories content in rox is a pain for those who
are used to vertical sorting. Nearly all major file browers
    sort files vertically.

I understand that people like horizontal sorting, but
please, add this feature as an option !
