Welcome to the ROV-suite Sourceforge project!

About

ROV-suite is a cross-platform, open source and free (as in beer and speech) ROV control platform based on Qt and C++. An example ROV firmware will be supplied (for the Arduino), although you can make your own with any architecture that supports UDP.

Introduction

ROV-suite is a collection of applications written to debug and operate DIY ROVs. Monterey is the "main" application. It is used during the normal operation of the ROV to control it and display the data from the ROV's sensors. Tahoe is an add-on for Monterey which has a touch-oriented UI that runs on tablet computers (i.e. Intel Classmate PCs and Android tablets). Networking test is used to help debug erros by catching the UDP packets used by Monterey, Tahoe and the ROV and displaying the data.

The ROV-suite collection of applications is written to work smoothly together and to be compatible with any ROV firmwares (or other applications) that you write. The odds are high that you will not use a vanilla installation of ROV-suite, but that you will edit the source code to tailor it to your setup. From the beginning, ROV-suite has been developed to support this method of use. In other words, ROV-suite is meant to be an open ended, user customizable application suite so that it is as useful as it can be for you.

Other Information

Please also keep in mind that the binaries in the downloads area may not be on the cutting edge. Code in the repo should always be able to be compiled and should always be able to run. If you want the newest features, you may have to download the source and compile it yourself! However, I will keep the downloads area up to date as often as I can!

If you would like to follow the development of ROV-suite check out my blog and my twitter (http://chrisstechblog.blogspot.com and @chriskon149).

If you would like to help out the project, it would be quite welcomed!

Thanks for the interest!
