Is there a way to stop the Rosegarden patchbay from auto-connecting? Or a
way of overriding it?
It's great for a static setup or if you only use one synth. But if you
use soft-synths/fx etc., you have to open them/plug them in in exactly
the same order (so that the ALSA midi port numbers are the same), or you
end up spending a huge amount of time fiddling with the connections. And
even opening things in the same order, and waiting for connections to be
established doesn't always give the same result. If something crashes
(qsynth or zyn, for example), the MIDI port number can be different when
you restart the app, requiring more patchbay maintenance.
I am interested in how other people manage this mayem. Any solutions?

Yes. It's an option you can turn off by hacking the code. ;-)
So far I haven't bothered, but search the archive for an old post of mine
asking the same question.
