How do I record the output from my synth when it is playing a score in
I have written a synth app, that uses Jack for sound output, and it
works fine when playing a Rosegarden score to the sound card. I want to
make a recording of a piece I have written, to give to a fellow
musician. How do I set up Rosegarden and Jack to do this?
So far, Rosegarden appears to insist on playing some kind of click track
over everything, which is useless when playing from a score. It just
goes "bong-bong-bong-bong-...", which sounds like a note at some low
pitch from the synth's default instrument (best described as "Almost but
not Entirely Unlike a Piano"). I presume the click track should be a
bass drum sound, but I have not made any drums patches yet. I tried
muting all unused MIDI channels in Rosegarden, but I still got the
unwanted click (or bong) track.
For straight playing from a Rosegarden score to the sound card, I use
Qjackctl to connect the synth's outputs to the "system" inputs, i.e. the
sound card. This works as expected.
I have tried connecting my synth's outputs to Rosegarden's inputs.
instead of to the sound card, but I got no sound and no recording.
I have had recording sort of working in Rosegarden, with a previous
synth that used Jack in the same way as the present one. But I got an
echo effect, i.e. an added delayed input, which was obviously not right.
I cannot remember how I got that working now.
Any help would be appreciated here.

I wrote a quick tutorial some time ago, how to record qsynth with RG:
