I have been really enjoying the use of rosegarden since switching to ubuntu.
At first, I was using ZynAddSubfx, then decided I wanted to be using
fluidsynth, since it can be used with GMsf2... Like the instrument sounds,
Recently, I had a different distro put on my computer- ubuntu ultimate
edition 2.26.1, and with it came TiMidity, which previously had made no
sound, but now was starting with RG. It made some sound, but there are far
fewer instruments, the drums sound wierd...in short, I think I don't like it
very much, and of course, all the settings for my music in RG are for use
with fluidsynth at the moment.
I would like to know how to run fluidsynth with RG, and not TiMidity. I
uninstalled TiMidity, but have not been able to get fluidsynth started. My
command line may be wrong, and Qsynth says it can locate neither Jack or
Alsa drivers, so it doesn't work.
I have been trying to figure this out for a couple of weeks, and have
had no luck. If anyone has any ideas on what may be the problem, I certainly
would appreciate them.
By the way, I ran some magical incantation to see if the above
mentioned drivers were installed, and it seems that they are...

Mine recognized JACK, but not ALSA.
So much for shooting you a command line demonstrating how to get it to work.
I'm afraid I don't have time to investigate this today.
