is it possible to have a virtual ethernet midi device seen by rosegarden, so
that rosegarden can play midi files and send the midi notes via tcp/ip to
another pc on the network?
to describe a bit more on 2 pcs:
- 1 pc with ubuntu 8.10 and rosegarden playing midi files on a ethernet midi
- 1 pc with ubuntu or xp with an ethernet midi port connected to the 1st pc
receiving the midi data and generating visuals
thanks for your help

I'm not sure about ethernet MIDI ports. Does somebody make an ethernet MIDI
It is possible to do some limited amount of MIDI over TCP/IP, although I've
totally mislaid the details. As I recall, it only supported one channel at a
time or some other crippling limitation that prevented it from being useful
for my purposes.
My memory is coming up blank. Maybe try searching our archives?
