Mr. McCoy and Mr. McIntyre:
Thank you for the responses. I am not at a place where I can "Reply", so your
replies are not exactly duplicated.

I need to upgrade because this machine is not only a personal home machine, but
I use it for testing before I apply changes at work, where most of the servers
run Tao.

That's pretty much what I was wanting to hear. The links you provided were very
informative also as to what Low Latency really is.
Thank you very much.

The general impression I have received from all that I read, starting with my
first introduction to Rosegarden, was that Low Latency was required. I sort of
blindly followed the path of obtaining and installing RG through CCRMA, and
along with that, the CCRMA low latency kernel.

Actually, I am focused on MIDI and scoring. The machine is not all that bad,
1.7Ghz, 256MB ram, and an SBLive card. It's not a speed machine, and more RAM
would always help, but.... I was glad to learn that Wal-Mart still sells the SB
Live, as I was looking for a second one from the place I purchased the original,
and it appeared the card was no longer being sold.
So all in all, I have learned quit a bit from this thread. I feel comfortable
upgrading, knowing that RG will probably still install on Tao (a mostly RH9
dependency OS). I don't know the internal specifics of Low Latency, but now know
what it deals with.
Thank you both so much for time, knowledge and responses.
