I'm recording MIDI with vkeyb... Playing notes directly to ZynAddSubFX works
fine, recording them with rosegarden I experience delays that make it
impossible to play properly.
Where could I start dealing with this?

Hrm. I have no idea. I can confirm that I just tried it, and everything
worked out just fine.
Hmmm... I intentionally dialed my JACK settings so that my latency was a
seriously terrible 186 msec, and I'd say it made the timing rather muddy.
That's where I'd start if I were you. What's your JACK latency set at?
I don't remember the technical explanation, but when JACK is running, all MIDI
timing issues are connected to JACK's latency in some way.
(My normal JACK latency is 21.3 msec, incidentally. That's what I had it set
for when I did the original, completely successful test.)
You could maybe verify this by taking JACK out of the picture too. I think
Zyn can send its output straight to ALSA. Also try with a real keyboard, and
try with some kind of hardware MIDI playback if you can. Try to zero in on
what breaks the worst, and maybe it will reveal something. (Of course this
last is hardware dependent.)
