I am completely new to Linux, I mean green! I purchased a copy of SuSe =
Linux 8.2. I've installed it and now I am trying to set up Rosegarden. =
I followed the instructions in the Install file and everything started =
to work fine as the C++ was scrolling. Then I got an error and it =
failed. This happened both on the "Makefile.CSV" and on the "./config." =
Can anyone give me a clue and to have to solve the problem? I =
apologize for not knowing more. I am new both to Linux and Rosegarden. =
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you for whatever assistance you =
might able to give me. Ken Frink, kenwfrink@...

I'm afraid we really need to know what the error was.
I'm using SuSE 8.2 now so I know that the code does build on it. The=20
likelihood is that you're missing some additional package that=20
Rosegarden needs, and I can't tell which without seeing the error=20
message. It'll be somewhere near the end of the printed output, but=20
possibly a few lines back -- almost certainly starting with the=20
actual word "Error:".
One other thing to note is that the compiler included with SuSE 8.2=20
has some optimisation bugs. To work around these, instead of just=20
running ./configure in the Rosegarden directory, you should run
to disable the optimiser. Otherwise you'll find playback stutters=20
