Short answers to questions in reply: > What are you trying to play? MIDI or audio? MIDI. I even tried importing a MIDI that worked previously, and also opening an old rosegarden document. Then I tried creating a new document from scratch. Still no sound. > Did you remember to load a soundfont into the card? Rosegarden can do this for you, if you wish. It"s under Settings -> Configure Rosegarden -> Sequencer Yes, I checked the Setting -> Configure Rosegarden -> Sequencer and it had the box checked to load the same soundfont as before. But I will try again. Since I'm broke anyway, should I consider "rpm -e" and installing from tar.gz? I figure I've got all of my dependencies now. Opinions? BTW, I like the new tutorial. Nice job. How about playing that MIDI file with pmidi to see if that works... pmidi -p65:0 yourmidifile.mid If that doesn't work, it could be revealing. Also, how about mixer settings? Is the "music" channel turned up? > Since I'm broke anyway, should I consider "rpm -e" and installing from > tar.gz? I figure I've got all of my dependencies now. > > Opinions? Well, whatever the package, it's always out of date. Though in this case far less has changed since the last release than would normally be the case. It certainly won't hurt anything to build from source. Just make sure you have the -dev or -devel versions of all those dependencies. > BTW, I like the new tutorial. Nice job. Thanks. Hopefully not much longer until I finish it now. I'm getting there slowly but surely. Then I'm going to have to beat off the Rosegarden groupie Linux chicks with a stick. -- Michael McIntyre ---- Silvan <dmm...@us...> Linux fanatic, and certified Geek; registered Linux user #243621 http://www.geocities.com/Paris/Rue/5407/ http://rosegarden.sourceforge.net/tutorial/ |
