Why 16 synth plugins? I see that this is hardcoded, for instance in
I also tried to add a couple of xml entries to the 10000+ section of a
.rg file to see if RG would create extra slots when parsing the file,
but no luck :-D
Is it possible to have more than 16 synth plugins? If so, how?

So it is -- I missed that. I actually increased the limit to 24 in recent
CVS, but I forgot about the synth manager dialog. It's hardcoded there and
separately hardcoded in sound/AlsaDriver.h. What a mess. Updated them both

Only by changing the code and recompiling, at the moment. Yes, it would be
nice to do something about that.

Thinking what? Configurablize it so it's adjustable in real time, what?
Where does this really come into play? At doc creation time? Would changing
it arbitrarily in the middle of a composition be problematic? What about
changing it and then having to save and re-load for the change to take
I ask because it sounds like a very piddly thing to configurablize, but I know
little about the potential ramifications of doing so. No use going off to do
it only to find it breaks things I didn't anticipate.
