Sorry for offtopic. Recently I upgraded to kernel 2.6.10 and alsa
1.0.8. It looks like I don't have /dev/sequencer any more, so RG can
be used as notation editor only.
Could you please point me to appropriate alsa docs to find out, how to
enable this device again. Currently I'm running Linux on an ASUS
(M6B00N) laptop with on-board AC97 sound chip.

I got the same issue some months ago with Mandrake 10.1 (kernel 188.8.131.52)
moreover /dev/snd/seq was equally absent
Following commands was sufficient to have them back again :
# mknod /dev/snd/seq -m 666 c 116 1
# mknod /dev/sequencer -m 666 c 14 1
