I seem to remember the problem was that if you provide barlines to=20
Lilypond, it likes them to be correct, and can get accumulated errors=20
if you feed it incorrect ones. Or something like that?
Mup actually refuses to parse anything with incorrect bar durations in=20
it, so I have a slightly complicated bit of code to try to keep the=20
bar durations correct. It doesn't entirely work yet -- it's quite=20
easy to get overfull bars, though underfull ones are less likely. =20
But the basics might be worth looking at.
