We generally recommend the easiest way to go is to install Rosegarden from your distro. Compiling it can be a bit of a bother, and we're more or less relying on the package maintainers to make it available to people without a lot of hassle. If you did install it from a package already, you might have run into a situation where you're trying to run the "rosegarden" binary, and your distro has renamed it "rosegarden4" Beyond that, not enough info to help you really. Did you install from a package? From source? From CVS? What distro? &c....
