For example, I have a U-110 (a real MIDI synth), and PD (in I don't disagree with you that what you propose seems logical. I'm just not sure whether or not it can be reasonably expected to work that way at this time. The device editor is very new, and the weird way the edit box thingie is behaving makes me think that that might well be a partially-implemented feature, or maybe even an unexpected consequence of using that particular widget or what have you. I didn't write that, haven't looked at the code, and am not sure what its author had in mind, but I do agree with you that it would be logical to edit device names there. > certain device and channel (or maybe not even limit it to a channel), and > insert the program changes manually. I realize that I am not in the > mainstream, of course. That's going to be a problem. For one, you have to assign a channel. For another, you can't insert a program change arbitrarily at present. In order to assign a track to a particular LSB/MSB/program combination, that combination has to have a name, even if the name is just a string with number in it. I've offered a stopgap solution to this in the form of a bank called raw-numbers.rgd, which you can load into any LSB/MSB bank you need it for, but it's pretty ugly, and actually I'm not sure the file even works. I think it was broken the last time I looked at it. I suspect you want to eventually insert program changes via the event list too. That, I'm afraid, isn't likely to happen. That was discussed a bit ago, and was shot down with a howitzer. -- Michael McIntyre USDA zone 6b in SW VA, USA Silvan <dmm...@us...> Linux Druid ----------[ registered Linux user #243621 ]--------- http://www.geocities.com/Paris/Rue/5407/index.html |
