You can enable OpenGL for rendering throughout with -graphicssystem opengl on the command line. We tested this once on the basis of some positive user reports, but for many people (including me on this machine at the moment) it results in no more than a lot of blank black windows. Assuming therefore that OpenGL on Linux probably still wasn't a good idea for portability, I had never actually tried enabling it for a single widget only. Testing that just now, it appeared to work -- but I only had a moment and only had a small test example, and I'm not convinced I could tell the difference on this reasonably quick computer (meaning also that I have to allow for the possibility that I was running the old build of the program or something, since that often turns out to be the case when a change has no visible effect!). More testing is indicated, I think. Anyone? (btw, you may have to add QtOpenGL/ to the include path and -lQtOpenGL to the link line if you want to #include <QGLWidget> successfully) Chris |
