Ask the first time they arm an audio track, or when they drag an audio file onto the composition or they open the audio file manager, and any other cases we can think of. All of these actions mean "I'm intending to do something with audio" but they aren't the sort of thing where throwing out a "give this a name before you continue" dialog would shatter someone's musical thought process. Incidentally, while we are on the topic of audio features and audio projects, have you tried the new project packager I rewrote from scratch? The .rgp format *is* a more or less workable thing, I think. The new packager is not a clone of the original, but rather 100% compatible with old files, using all new code and an all new thought process for handling everything. Now that it's integrated real code instead of some tacked on script, it may be worth thinking about more ways to integrate it into audio-related plans. -- D. Michael McIntyre |
