Hi Dave, Thank you for the reply! I have never had success launching jack with that sample rate and buffer > size. Try either 44100 or 48000 for your sample rate (I would try 44100 > first) and 1024 for the buffer size. > My problem is not with JACK or with any other audio application. I normally use Sample rate=192000, Frames/Period=512. I can start JACK with those parameters and it runs stable with no xruns, even when I record several tracks with Ardour. I was trying Frames/Period=2048 (=>higher latency) just to be sure it was not a JACK problem. JACK only crashes when I try to lauch Rosegarden. Usually I can also listen to midi files (with some minor problems) using Qsynth/fluidsynth and aplaymidi (or pmidi). I probably should have chosen "jack crash at rosegarden startup" as a subject. > As for launching Rosegarden again after a crash, you may need to clean up > old processes that the system sees as running. If you run: > > ps ax | grep rose > > you will find the process id number for any Rosegarden processes still in > memory. Then issue the command: > > kill -9 process id number ( where process id number = the number you got > from the ps command) > After the crash there is a sleeping rosegardensequencer that I can easily kill, but I cannot start JACK anymore and my audio system does not respond (both cards): $ ps ax | grep jack 6346 ? Zsl 0:11 [jackd] <defunct> I'm pretty sure it is a Rosegarden or KDE problem (I'm using Gnome). I've also tried to previously run kdeinit or dcopserver with no results. Any other advice? |
