It would be pre1 anyway, not rc1 -- the principle (as I've read quite a lot of people trying to tell Linus recently!) ought to be that preX releases are known buggy preliminary releases and rcX are ones that you'd ideally like to just rename to 1.0 and release as-is, if it wasn't for the fact that more bugs will get reported as soon as you release them. > In any case I think we should sort and prioritize the remaining bugs > and see which ones are show-stoppers. Definitely. There are probably a few just waiting for confirmation and closing, too. Suggested priorities (though obviously use your common sense): 9 -- Must fix for the next point release. Generally this will only apply to really bad things that are actually worse than 0.9.9. 8 -- Crashes application; OR produces nonsense on screen; OR renders an existing feature useless (in which case the appropriate fix for 1.0 may even be to remove the feature!); OR produces incorrect playback, prevents recording from working etc. That sort of thing. 7 -- Must fix for 1.0. Would be an embarrassing thing for a reviewer to point out, for example... 6 -- Must fix, or implement or document workaround for, for 1.0. Once again, anything below 6 should be officially out of scope for 1.0. Chris |
