Just the majority of them, like all of the ones who to date are responsible for the kernel having nothing that can be correctly referred to as graphics support. They're the ones who are called "programmers." The rest are just people who happen to write computer software now and then. You see what I'm getting at? Discrimination, that's what I'm getting at. I hate programmers very much, and those people I like, well obviously they're not true programmers, they're just people who happen to write computer software now and then. I'm one of those people myself. Anyway, those programmers are quite an enigma. On the one hand, they're the only ones around who can do this stuff regularly and create full applications without constantly bitching and whining about how difficult it is, but on the other hand, everything they create is so fucked up you'd think they're retarded. I don't know what to make of it all. It just pisses me off every time I think about it. I mean, I started to write one of those rants here, but it was becomming way too long after several hours of continuous typing. To sum it all up in just a few paragraphs: ...well, I've tried to sum it all up in just a few paragraphs several times now. It just doesn't work. If I could just understand why everything is the way it is, I'd feel better about it, but it just doesn't make any sense. I mean...it's not the soundfont editor I'm talking about. I know how that happened. Someone wrote it, then lost interest in it before finishing it up to make it easy to use and documenting how to use it. That kind of stuff is easy to understand. It's stuff that's been broken for ten years despite constant development that I simply cannot understand. This week it sucks, next week it blows. It constantly changes, but what doesn't change is that it's shit. The fact that the state of graphics in Linux is complete shit is obvious to anyone who truly understands it, so... I don't know, maybe the problem is that I'm the only one who understands it. It does kind of seem like the people who keep making it worse don't know how most of it works. I don't know, but after thinking about it for a few hours now, I sure am depressed. |
