Because I use my desktop for more than just music I didn't want to have a specific music distro. I find that gentoo works really well for getting lots of different things to work. However, this really means that you are customizing _everything_ instead of tweaking any other distro to do something it doesn't necessarily do out of the box. Gentoo is not for the feint of heart but it'll do anything.
