Chris, I was imprecise in my use of the word 'channels' in the previous message. You know what MIDI channels are already, and I should use it accurately. When I said "for each of these 4 channels is a 'port'" I misspoke. A grouping of two MIDI connectors (in and out) is not a channel. It's a bus. My system has 4 buses, and I'd say that the 'port' is the connection between the MIDI bus (the cables and devices) and the computer's software. Hope I'm not getting too deeply into makign this worse.
