I've never actually been able compile Rosegarden, atleast not in a usable form. Whereas I compile muse pretty often. Nowdays I don't have to though, running Mandrake there are rpm's available: rpm.nyvalls.se/sound9.0.html, rpms for Rosegarden there too. -- As for the pkgconfig problems, I hear you! These tools are great when they work. But when they don't work, they SUCK! The complexity of it all makes it pretty much impossible to figure out what is wrong, unless you have a deep understanding of what the tools do... As for pkgconfig, I think that is the package that is looking for these *.pc files, right? There has been numerous rants about this stuff. Atleast older versions of pkgconfig are only able to keep track of one search dir at the time. If you installed pkgconfig from source it is probably installed in /usr/local/*, which means it will default to using /usr/local/lib/pkgconfig as search path. The dirtiest, and easisest, way to fix it, is to copy all *.pc files to one of the locations /usr/local/lib/pkgconfig and /usr/lib/pkgconfig and symlink the other dir. I think I've heard that it's possible to set an environment variable to the same effect these days, but I frankly never tried it... /Robert |
