This is a key issue for a system that will serve small
operators and the public. The Hilton is easy (e.g. dbl,
sgl, junior suite, suite, smoking). Small
accommodations are much more difficult for the
provider to describe and for the customer to
understand. The best system will be something that is
user configurable where the room type is described
rather than prescribed. I don't pretend tohave the
solution to this problem - only to point out that it
    needs a lot of thought.

On "knowing which room is vacant". The practice in
larger hotels is that the specific room is allocated when
the guest arrives. In many smaller accommodations with
a variety of rooms on offer, the provider might manage
his inventory by allocating a specific
    room/cottage/apartment when the accommodation is
booked. This means it will be useful if the system could
    allow this.

This is available in CVS and will be included in release 0.08.
