I decided to use RooFit for a fitting application instead of the standard ROOT/Minuit methods because the former explicitly calculates 68% confidence levels instead of using sqrt(N). This becomes especially important in bins with low counts. On page 8 of the RooFit manual, an as-yet-unwritten appendix is referenced ("Appendix C includes some basic statistics reading material that covers this and other issues."). Can anybody suggest relevant reading material?
