Delinquent in updating the releases and CVS tree, but development has continued. CVS tree updated with current files, in prep for the 0.5 release (feature freeze for 1.0). Note that in the intervening years, project has morphed from a perl-based to a cgi-based suite. Will you still love us? Glimpse the future in the RoboCGI CVS branch.
The robowiz-tk.pl file had a nasty bug that only affects you if you try to use it. Thanks to Dan G for finding it. Fix is checked into the CVS tree (and will be out with next release), but grabbing it is STRONGLY recommeded before setting up your league.
Robocommish is the Open Source Fantasy Football League Management software suite. Release 0.3 implements remote playerdb uploading (with proxy support), a new league setup GUI, a scheduling tool, new default and backup web stats parsers, and numerous bug fixes and aesthetic tweaks.
Also implemented key learnings from the late, not-so-lamented XFL.
By now, NFL leagues are in the 'cryin'n'braggin' phase. Thanks for the user feedback throughout the 2000 season. Many of your suggestions and enhancements are on the roadmap for 2001, but for now I'm going to kick back and...
What?! Another football season?! Ok, RoboCommish will definitely support the brand new XFL. However due to the webpage-parsing model, it may be a week or so before the formats are stable enough to produce a useable parser. Expect a new rev two weeks into the season. In the meantime, stay on top of the CVS tree, and check here for announcements. Also, check back on the ftp site for the xfl-league package, which will provide playerdb and leaguedb for the WWF-inspired gridiron.... read more
The enforced web-free hiatus is over. True to form, USA TODAY changed formats the week I left. Hopefully the ROBO_NANDO parser worked out for everyone (seemed fine in my league). With no major bugs reported, the march to 0.3 is beginning with feature requests. The best I've heard so far (thanks Matt) is an option to read the PDB from sourceforge, bypassing the need for anyone but me to keep up with website format changes. Other possibilities: proxy support, playoff scheduling GUI, playoff webpage generation, formattable text reports, and webform roster updating. Lemme know if these or any others, should bubble to the top of the Todo list.... read more
0.2 is officially released. Many minor bug fixes and roster checking additions, with the selectable parse package (and selectable NANDO parser) being the major additions.
On an unfortunate note, due to circumstances beyond my control, I will lose web/email access for about a month. I apologize for the inconvenience and loss of support. I can only promise to work twice as hard when I reconnect in late OCT. I WILL address all feedback in that time frame, but bear with me and send me your prayers in my month of loss ;]
I am scheduling Release 0.2 for next week, after which I am vacationing for 4 weeks and will be unable to respond to bugs/assistance requests as promptly as usual. If there are any features or bugs that you haven't submitted, now's the time! (I will still have intermittent webmail access, and will not drop off the face of the Earth. Turnaround will be spotty)
Known bugfixes/features in 0.2:
* Added teamfile roster checking for valid playerdb entries
* (Tk) Added cross-team checking to ensure pickups are not already on another roster
* Fixed pass/receive conversion parsing transposal
* Fixed Overtime game parsing bug
* (Tk) Fix inability to select newly-added players in team forms... read more
USA TODAY webpage changed formats from preseason, fix is in week 2 release. Also fixed some lingering multi-leage and anyweek update bugs, and added an 'Add Player' function to all player search widgets. Other Misc cosmetic changes to GUI.
USA TODAY changed their formats from preseason. Again. I will be releasing an incremental 0.1.2 later this week with this update and other bug fixes. If you are in a bind this week, grab ROBO_USATODAY.pm from the CVS repository. The fix is already in there. (You may want to just grab all the latest files for grins)
Version 0.1 of Robocommish (the Open Source FFL Manager) is released. The major change is the fix to support the new box score formating on the webpage. (This is a CRITICAL change.) Many other bugs have been fixed, and a major GUI commenting run is completed.
The preseason 2000 player database and author's league files have been released. You'll find them at http://members.home.net/robocommish/downloads.html. (they are also on the SourceForge FTP) These are the current NFL player list and NFL 2000 schedule in RoboCommish text file formats.
Also, the developer's guide has finally been uploaded at http://members.home.net/robocommish/lockerroom.html
Between the two, you should be ready for the draft!
Just in time for preseason drafting, RoboCommish 0.0 is released! Detailed documentation on the Homepage: http://members.home.net/robocommish
RoboCommish is a perl-based (Open Source) Fantasy Football League management suite, with both command line and GUI interface.
