Hello, I agree that at this point, it would probably be best to stick with a small team at least until we are out of the planning stages. Once all the planning is done, I think it will be a good idea to open it up to more developers as I am sure there will be plenty of work to go around. As for discussions related to the project, I'm wondering if we should look into having a dedicated chat room or something for the project that can allow for faster cooperation than email. Using some meeting software such as GoToMeeting might not be a bad idea either. Those are just some of my thoughts at this time. Regards, Jeremy Bray On Thu, Oct 23, 2008 at 9:20 PM, N. V. Hi All, I'm sorry for my long absence. First of all I changed the mailing list options so that your replies go to the whole list not just the sender. I'm still getting a lot of emails from people who want to join our project and there are people with high levels of experience in C# and professional background. But I think to avoid confusion and for a better planning this small team is enough especially in this phase of the project. As Jeremy has said we need to think about the scope of the project. In my opinion the things that he mentioned in his list (Billing Taxes, Budgeting, etc.) are all important components, but without the things mentioned in Subha's list (contacts, events, calculator charts, etc.) the project wouldn't be complete. My suggestion is to first discuss who will be using the application and for what. When we all have a clear idea about this it will be a lot easier to list the components. Thank you all, Nick |

Hi, The "personal" part of Personal Business Planner had me thinking about the things I had mentioned - like managing events, contacts, cost calculator etc. Ofcourse it was a rough list and I thought of it as a start. I do think that budgetting, security, tax and billing (from your list) would form the primary piece for this project. There may be documents like tax documents, bills that have to be organized in a place so some sort of document repository may be required for this. You might have meant a similiar thing by the 'Information Backup'. Thanks, Subha On Fri, Oct 10, 2008 at 5:05 PM, Jeremy Bray <pcn...@gl...>wrote: > Hello, > > Deciding what needs to be added/expanded/subtracted really depends on the > present scope of the project. I am not sure of the purpose of the document repository, so if you could explain that to me so that I can understand its purpose better, that would be helpful. Otherwise, that is all I can think of at this time, but I will shoot back an e-mail if something else comes to mind. -Jeremy On Fri, Oct 10, 2008 at 6:24 AM, Subha Krishnan <sub...@gm...>wrote: > >> --Roadseven Developers-- >> >> Hi all, >> >> I wanted to share what I thought of as a rough list of components for a >> personal business planner. >> >> 1. Hi all, I wanted to share what I thought of as a rough list of components for a personal business planner. 1. Manage Contacts (Addresses, EMail & Phone numbers) 2. Manage Events using a daily calendar 3. Cost Calculator 4. Document repository 5. Reports & Charts 6. Templates for drawing a business plan (?) 7. Inventory management system (?) We can subtract/expand/add to this list? -Subha |
