When replying to an email, rmail uses not the configured email address but a cryptic address of the Webserver - in my case it's like "wwwrun@blablah.net (WWW daemon apache)".

that's true, but actually I don't knwo how to avoid this
the "mail" function takes a correct parameter to identify the sender email, but probably the host itself is configured to override that address :(

probably it would be an idea to let the user specify a smtp server for each account in the control panel and use it for sending mail.
that's definitly the solution though it requires some work and DB changes, so I will work on that asap, maybe next month :(
