is there a way to align the windows in RKWard vertically, e.g. that the script and output window are next to each other instead of being above/underneath each other?
That way I would be able to see much more of code and output.

right-click the "R-console" button at the bottom of the screen and select "right-sidebar" (or left if you prefer).

… and in case that is not enough, use Windows->Detach to transform any window into a top-level window managed by the window manager.

Thanks, works great. Sadly, RKWard won't remember this setting, but I guess I can spare two klicks at each start.
