Yes, that was the general idea. You could add -Wno-unused-result to shut gcc 
up if you want.

I have seen both used by projects, but I guess keeping svnlog clean of 
discussions is better, so I set the reply-to: address. Also changed that of 
-devel to list instead of poster.
