I have removed the hard disk from an old rio and I am trying to mount it in linux (rio power supply busted). So far, I have been unable to do so. When I try to mount the disk as follows:
mount -t auto /dev/sdb1 /mnt/rio
I get the following error:
mount: /dev/sdb1/ is not a valid block device
In my /etc/fstab I have the device listed as:
/dev/sdb1 /mnt/rio [fstype] defaults,users 0 0
I've tried with [fstype] = vfat, autofs, msdos
but I get the same message each time. I can reformat the disk and then use it, however the object is to get the data from it first. So: has anyone had any luck mounting a hard disk extracted from a rio riot? If so, some pointers in the right direction would be appreciated.
of course, that last post *should* have said that the model was a rio riot.
The Riot uses a rudimentary file system, which is proprietary. Therfore the kernel has no support for this filesystem, hence the need for a tool like rioutil.
