You are receiving this email because you are on one of the two mailing lists rin...@li... or rin...@li... associated to the Ringing Class Library. Given that neither of these lists has had any traffic for a number of years, you had probably forgotten that you were on one of them. Anyway, the Ringing Class Library is migrating from SourceForge to the more modern surroundings of Github. The main page is here: <https://github.com/ringing-lib>. This mailing list will probably cease to exist. If you're interested in keeping up with any developments, let me know. Martin Bright |

After a gap of more than two years, I'm pleased to announce the release of version 0.3.0 of the Ringing Class Library. >From NEWS: Version 0.3.0 (11 May 2005): Split into separate GPL and LGPL portions. Reading & writing of XML libraries. Accessing online method database. Major updates to gsiril and methsearch. Use libtool for building shared libraries. Martin |

Version 0.2.8 of the Ringing Class Library has been released. Version 0.2.8 (14 December 2002): Improved support for older compilers. New iterator-based interface to libraries. Improved falseness classes. Additions to music classes. Various other minor improvements and bug-fixes. Martin -- Martin Bright Department of Mathematical Sciences, University of Liverpool |

Version 0.2.7 of the Ringing Class Library has been released. Here's the NEWS file: Version 0.2.7 (26 March 2002): New, greatly improved music classes. Mechanism for exhaustive search for touches in a method. Printing in PDF. Many small improvements to methods, libraries and other classes. More portability work. Start working towards compiling as a DLL under Windows. There are a lot of changes in this release, including what I hope will turn into a good infrastructure for supporting touches and searching for them. Many of these changes have not yet been reflected in the manual, but I will work to update it soon. Note that the manual is no longer released in a separate package, because you can access it in the project's web page. Martin -- Martin Bright, Clare College, Cambridge M.B...@dp... |

Version 0.2.6 of the Ringing Class Library is now available. Release notes: Version 0.2.6 (13 January 2002): More method library improvements and tidying. Add printing of whole methods, and colour printing. Command-line program examples/psline for method printing. New touch classes (still experimental). In particular, there is a useful command-line program for producing PostScript lines for methods. Unfortunately you can only compile it if you have the GNU C library's argp functions, but I will try to write a replacement for them soon. We have been thinking about supporting shared libraries on Unix platforms, but this would mean that anybody wanting to compile from the CVS source would need to download the latest alpha release of GNU libtool. Would that upset people? If it would, we will wait until the next stable release (1.5) comes out. DLLs for Windows are being considered, but they're probably still some way off. I'd appreciate comments on the design of the touch classes. Martin -- Martin Bright, Clare College, Cambridge M.B...@dp... |

Release 0.2.5 is available, now in .zip format as well as .tar.gz format. Release notes: Version 0.2.5 (4 December 2001): Many method library improvements, including the ability to read Central Council method lists. More changes probably on the way here. Distribute as a .zip file as well as .tar.gz. More documentation. Some exceptions added in various places. Minor improvements to generated PostScript files. I have also created a new branch in the CVS repository for making libtool work to build shared libraries across different platforms. Martin -- Martin Bright, Clare College, Cambridge M.B...@dp... |

Version 0.2.4 of the Ringing Class Library is now available. Version 0.2.4 (30 October 2001): More Windows fixes. Fixes to printing classes. Minor changes to proof and music classes. First stab at a touch class introduced. I'd particularly appreciate comments on where to take the touch class. My idea at the moment is to have subclasses for more specific types of touches, such as those given by methods and calls. Martin -- Martin Bright, Clare College, Cambridge M.B...@dp... |
